Religion and ethics

NSW schools offer special religious education (SRE) and special education in ethics (SEE). Approved providers deliver these, where available.

Write to the school if you wish to withdraw your child from special religious education, sometimes known as scripture. Special education in ethics is an option for your primary-age child if you withdraw them from special religious education.

A parent/carer may at any time notify the school in writing that they wish to change their decision. Students will continue the same arrangement as the previous year, unless a parent/carer requests a change in writing.

If your preferred SRE or SEE option is not available please contact the approved provider. Students not attending SRE or SEE are given supervised alternative meaningful activities.

SRE and SEE classes are offered at Epping West Public School at designated times on Tuesday mornings. The following options are available at our school.

SRE Options:

Combined SRE (formely Protestant SRE)

Combined Christian SRE (also known as protestant SRE) is provided by SRE teachers representing Anglican Diocese of Sydney, Australian Christian Churches, Baptist Union of NSW, C3 Australia Church and Presbyterian Church of Australia. SRE teachers are authorised and trained by their approved provider. Christian SRE engages students in conversations as they question life, explore values and discover faith. The Christian SRE curriculum used is based on the Bible, and encourages learning the key elements of the Christian life. Our teachers use both the CEP connect materials and God Space.
